Band of Outsiders Fall 2009

Band of Outsiders have been getting increased buzz throughout the last year with their impeccable redefinition of what it means to be preppy. Not shying away from showcasing a successful perspective on range (blazers, sweaters, shirts, coats, hoodies, bow-ties just to name a few), Band of Outsiders continue to give you great pieces to get you through your day with ease. Who says looking preppy means looking uptight anyway?

Boy by Band of Outsiders Fall 2009

"...fetishized American sportswear" - Scott Sternberg, designer of Band of Outsiders and Boy by Band of Outsiders, describing his womenswear.

--------------

Band of Outsiders only grows with each collection that progresses and with their women's line, Boy, the momentum is only picking up pace. Many designers have the ability to create great pieces of a collection, but in the end have a disjointed story (hello Moschino!)...but with Boy you don't get that. What you're left with is a lifestyle that will keep you satisfied for seasons to come.

"Hello," said Geremy

My first foray into the world of fashion began when I bought a camel colored ADIDAS jacket. I had already experienced diving into specialty boutiques that carried vintage tees along with designer denim, but this jacket was unique. Although only 13 years of age at the time, I quickly learned that styling myself grew to be more than just a changing of the exterior. When I slipped on that jacket I walked differently, held my head higher, and felt confident to approach the world; I was fascinated, high, and renewed. I quickly dove head first into an array of fashion fixes that included ascots, waistcoats, suede, fringe, vintage, boots, and so much more. We'll call this obsession, love.

My attitude on Fashion and Style has grown immensely since while still consisting of a philosophy that I've yet to let go of: Androgyny. I've always been motivated by mixing menswear with womenswear, as my frame is extremely thin compared to most of America, and find a dire need to look in both departments when creating my ideal look. I adore clean lines and playful proportions, as exemplified in the picture above by Saint Augustine Academy (Spring 2009/10). I'm inspired by individuals who truly know how to be just that without looking overdone or overworked. Effortlessness is key!

With all that said, this blog is neither about Josh or I. We will be featuring stories, reviews, personal advice on anything involving fashion, culture, etc. We look forward to creating an (hopefully) interesting take on things going on in the past, present, and future.

Nothing of me is original...

My style has very much grown over the years. In high school, I was all about the graphic tees and to me, all that mattered was having the coolest shirts. But when I left for college to San Francisco, I was presented a whole new fashion lifestyle; everyone around me just breathed individuality. And going to art school just added to that variety. I soon found myself looking at all things fashion; magazines, videos, reviews of the latest collections. I looked at it for inspiration; not only for style but to help with my aspirations as a graphic designer. That may sound weird but hey, if it helps my creativity rolling, why not? Fashion has impacted my life in such a way I would not have expected it to. And it's a good thing. Anyway, one aspect of fashion that I always go to is the women. Yes, I said it; women. I always had the idea that if women could wear it, why can't I? Androgyny is the name of the game. But I would like to think of it as incorporating the two sides, femininity and masculinity, and bringing it to my desired taste. The photo presented, part of the 2010 Rag and Bone resort collection, I think sums up what my current style; The monochromatic grunge.
